Floods kill five - Police

Police say 5 children are reported to have died in different parts of the country due to flooding caused by heavy rains.

Police spokesperson Ibin Senkumbi attributes the deaths to irresponsible parents. He said Police would move to arrest parents for ‘causing’ such preventable deaths.

Masaka accident kills 2, scores injured

Two people including a child died on Sunday in an accident at Mbirizi, Masaka when Toyota Ipsum collided with taxi-Omni-bus destined to Kampala.

Ssemwanga Lutaaya a journalist with Radio one/Kaboozi died later when he was transferred to Masaka hospital.

Former MP Akbar Godi denied bail

The jailed former Arua Municipality MP, Hussein Akbar Godi, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in Luzira Prison, has been denied bail and sent back to jail.

Ugandans safe as London burns

Ugandans living in various UK cities blazing with fast-spreading night riots are safe, according to preliminary information gathered by this newspaper.
“We have kept in very close contact with our people but we have had no reports of Ugandans being affected by the riots as yet,” said Mr Isaac Sebulime, Uganda’s deputy High Commissioner to London.

Seven injured in collapsed building

SEVEN people were on Monday evening injured when a commercial building in Bukoto, a city suburb, collapsed.

The victims, who were in critical condition, were rushed to hospitals.
