Caterpillars invade districts in uganda

Caterpillars have invaded farms in Kayunga, Wakiso and Mukono districts in Uganda, causing concern that the infestation could bring about famine.

These caterpillars indiscriminately eat all types of green leaves destroying several hectares of maize, banana plantations, beans, tomatoes, cassava, coffee, and sweet potato plantations.

Most of the residents in the affected districts have deserted their homesteads due to the heavy raid that is making it hard to control the spread of these caterpillars.
