2012 Kora Awards nominee Juliana also wins at BEFFTA Awards

Juliana Kanyomozi whose "I am Ugandan" single has been nominated Best Female East Africa for 2012 Kora Awards, beat compatriot Dr Jose Chameleone and 11 other African nominess; Fally Ipupa, Nameless, rapper Sarkodie, D'Banj, Wizkid, Wande Coal, Zahara, Inyanya, Ice Prince, Nonini and Itz Tiffany to win Best International Afro-beat Act award at the 2012 UK BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Art) Awards.

The fourth annual version of the awards was held on Saturday the 27-Oct-2012 at The Hippodrome, North End Road, Golders Green in London.

She becomes the first Ugandan to win the BEFFTA award. After winning, Juliana posted on her facebook page:

"Hey family, we won the BEFFTA award yessss!. Thank you for all the support u showed thru your votes. I couldn't have done it without you. Uganda, East Africa, You did it.."

At the 2012 Kora awards which are slated to take place on December 29th this year in Cote d'Ivoire, Ugandan representative Juliana will face Competition from:

Marya  - Shiki Simu,  Kenya

Helen Berhe –  Lebe,  Ethiopie

Asther Aweke –  Lu Mili,  Ethiopie

Saida Karoli –  Sakina, Tanzanie

Ikraan Caraale –  Gaarsiiya,  Somalie

The 12th edition of the Kora awards is expected to attract some of the continent’s best acts on stage on the night of the awards with US R&B star, Chris Brown, who has been nominated in the Best Male Diaspora (USA) category, named to also perform at the event.
