Uganda Launches official jubilee song

The Government on Wednesday launched an official jubilee song titled ‘Yoga yoga’ in Kampala at the Independence monument as the country prepares to celebrate 50 years of Uganda's independence.

The song that features gospel artiste Hum Kay, Esther Nabasa, Barbara Kayanja, Rap star Edwin Ruyonga and Richy was produced by Richard Kaweesa of the Spirit of Africa Ltd.

Yoga Yoga a phrase which means greetings in Iteso and Japadhola languages and congratulations in Luganda.

“It is a powerful jubilation dance song with beats from native Uganda,’’ said economic monitoring state minister Henry Banyenzaki.

“As we celebrate our Jubilee we needed a song that draws from all the tribes in Uganda, that unites us and makes us more patriotic, and Yoga Yoga certainly does so,’’ he added.

Minister for Economic Monitoring in the office of the President Hon. Henry Banyenzaki appealed to the youth to take extra care so they can witness Uganda in 2062.
